What are you Doing With Your Life?

The 5 Keys to Help You Find Your Purpose

Being an educator for more than 12 years and having taught world-wide, I realised that I was gifted for it. Whatever school I would go to, students would always love my way of teaching and always praised me for being so relatable, caring, fun and different from other teachers.

I have always been glad that I could make a difference in their lives.

However, I knew that I did not want to be a teacher for the rest of my life. I wanted to fulfil my purpose and evolve into the real me.

You see, very few people can say that they are fulfilled in what they do and that they are really passionate about their job. Most teachers I came across lost their passion for teaching because of the lack of support from schools, unrealistic budgets and laws of the government, students’ behaviour, demanding hours, lack of support from parents or just because they were not meant to be teachers.

I wonder how you feel right now in your teaching career?

Is it something you have always wanted? Are you truly fulfilled in your career or are you just doing it to pay the bills?

There are over seven billion people on earth and 87% of people hate their job according to a survey from Gallop Poll in 2017. This percentage does not surprise me at all because we live in a world led by distractions, over consumption, instant gratification and pleasure. Some people may say that there is more pleasure in living from weekend to weekend than to really think about existential questions that allow them to grow, change and become the best version of themselves. It is always easy to allow the flesh to overtake the mind.

However, in both ways, there is a price to pay. Indeed, there is a price to pay if you allow your flesh to dictate your body which is called “existing.” In other words living from paycheck to paycheck, embracing a life with no sense of direction or purpose.

There is a price to pay if you allow your mind to dictate your body which is called “living.” This means understanding that you are born for something more than just paying bills. “Living” is giving meaning and significance to your life.

Most people are not willing to learn self-discipline, focus or to get out of their comfort zone, allowing themselves to go beyond an average life.

Let’s be real, even if teachers are underpaid to build the next generation, when teachers lose their passion, students lose their motivation and inspiration.

This is why I want to make sure you ask yourself the right questions to really help you ponder over your life, take risks and pursue what you were really called to be if you are not doing it right now.

If money was not an issue, what would you be doing right now?

It all starts with the question that brings true discovery of your inner being and it is why you are here on earth. The discovery of your “why” will lead you to a deep search of your uniqueness and essence.

Most people cannot answer this question because they have never taken the time to think about it nor have they have ever been exposed to people who really live life for a purpose. Finding purpose is a treasure hunt, a puzzle, a mystery that can only be solved with the right attitude and environment.

However, there are some people who are fulfilled and content in their job and if it is you, I believe you are called “the aligned teacher.” You have always been a teacher at heart.

5 Keys to Help you Find Purpose:

1. Take time to think about it.

2. Your purpose is directly connected to your passions.

3. Network with people who are on purpose.

4. Find a life coach that can help you to discover your purpose.

5. Read books related to the topic.

My purpose is to help parents, high schools and youth organisations raise purposeful teen leaders by using holistic programmes and workshops to develop the leaders in them and guide them toward their own purposes.

You might or might not know your purpose but you must be aware that you can discover it if you yearn for it.
