Stick to the Past and Sink!
“It is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from various points of view.” –George Eliot, writer & poet
Education standards are sliding. Teacher and student stress is rising, as is truancy and bullying. Headlines in the newspapers are claiming education to be a mess. Robust, radical remedial action and direction is needed. Formative principals and formative teachers looking for a long-term solution, (I am yet to favourably view any short-term ones are good enough.) could focus on the school as a Learning Organisation. In the process, they may turn the school and classrooms into revolutionary capable, efficient units and quite distinct from what exists presently. The current education model has done without radical change since the nineteenth century: now not fit for purpose. To quote President John F Kennedy, “We stand today on the edge of a new frontier – a frontier of unknown opportunity.”
